Jacob Hannnick may not have grabbed all the headlines but he certainly grabbed our attention with his composed play at the point for COLA Southwark Pride. Most notably, the young PG can pass the ball. He is already starting to show signs that he understands how to create space for teammates and deliver the ball accurately down the channels and also has a flair for the creative ‘dime’ for those ready to catch. The 2021-22 edition of the Pride were unquestionably focused on ‘development’ and if Hannick is the emerging result, COLA’s future is in good hands.

Denim Fleming had a ‘break out’ year for the Brent Panthers last season. Arguably the most improved player in the league, the young wing went from a borderline game to game team selection, to bonafide ‘All-League’ selection in the space of 1 season. His ball-hungry defence and ability to attack the passing lanes, coupled with an appetite for disruption made him one of the top defenders in the league and often spear-headed waves of transition baskets for his Brent Panthers squad. A team-player who stepped in to fill in any gaps on offence, making timely jumpers, incisive driving lay ups and winning plays all season. Denim put the league on notice – he’s a new force to be reckoned with.

Sam Scott is the fiery forward for the division’s most successful team last season. Often emotionally charged, Scott showed he is maturing well, displaying an ability to channel his energy into winning plays on both ends of the floor for London Elite. He rebounds well from his position (8 per game) and is developing into an offensive threat, especially off of the drive. An athletic defender who isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint, but also showing signs of developing into a solid perimeter threat. An important part to London’s championship winning season. Underestimate him at your peril.

Etemi Togharo is an emerging new talent from the Southwark Legends treasure chest. A long-armed, athletic forward who is still in ‘development mode’ but clearly heading in the right direction. Showed signs of becoming a strong rebounding, versatile wing with ability to dribble, drive and score from the wing, while being amongst the action in the paint. One to keep an eye on for the upcoming season…

Tokky Omotunde is a physical, strong and athletic forward who anchored the Barnet Bulldogs with a near ‘double/double’ (12 points, 9 boards) last season. An impressive rebounder who clearly excels in physical match ups around the paint, his presence is felt in every game. The vocal leader and ‘heart and soul’ of the Bulldogs with a developing offensive game that included a face up jump shot that should open his game up and increase his impact on games even further in the season ahead. Well deserved All-League selection.
