Kensington & Chelsea Knights made a triumphant return to the CBL with their first U14 team win against South London’s Kennington Generals (49-23).

Sunday 8th November marked the start of the season where a slew of games took place at the prestigious Copper Box Arena in The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Knightsā€™ Samuel Sako stepped into the game warm and ready to go, coming away with a solid 10 points to help his team lead 21-5 in the first quarter. Team mate Jon Gjorllaku attacked the basket well to contribute 4 points and maintain his teamā€™s lead to finish 27-7 going into the half.

Knights really found their rhythm in the second half of the game, playing great team basketball to continue to lead by 20 at the end of the third (35-15). But the game remained exciting until the end as Kennington Generals refused to take their foot off the gas with Adul-Malik Ogoro doing everything in his power from hustling to blocking shots to try and win the game back.

However, Generalsā€™ effort wasnā€™t enough to stop the Knights who secured their first win of the season.

Kensington and Chelseaā€™s joint MVPs, Gideon Hanibal and Jon Gjorllaku, were really happy with their teamā€™s success. Hanibal said, ā€œI think we had a great game as we played good defence and spread the ball around well. Iā€™m really happy to win our first game and hope to continue doing the same going forward.ā€

Both teams play in the CBL run by the London School of Basketball (LSB) in partnership with Reach and Teach. For more information, please contact fmacaly@reachandteach.co.uk
