After their success last week, Islington’s basketball club Activities4U (A4U) prove they are stacked with talent as their U25 team did very well this weekend to beat Kensington & Chelsea Knights 50-34 at the Copper Box Arena, Olympic Park.

Displaying quickness and determination throughout the game, A4U’s Alex Sappa was named the game MVP after finishing with an impressive 12 points to help his team win with a 28 point lead.

Sappa was seen earlier this year at Midnight Madness – the UK’s biggest basketball competition renowned for providing known and unknown players with incredible opportunities to display their talent within the UK and abroad.

“Midnight Madness was a great experience for me,” Sappa said. “The frustration of knowing I was one place away from playing in this year’s Midnight Madness National Final has motivated me to join the CBL and get better for next year’s tournament.”

After such an exciting summer at Midnight Madness, Sappa is one of the many players who play through the CBL to then make that jump to other opportunities in order to take their game to the next level.

With Islington’s star, Orlan Jackman, currently playing professionally over in Portugal as a direct result of Midnight Madness this year, it will be exciting to see who else emerges from Islington as A4U proves to be the team to watch.

Both teams play in the CBL run in partnership with the London School of Basketball (LSB), which continues to deliver the Olympic legacy of providing more opportunities for young Londoner’s to play, more of the time.
