The 2016/17 CBL U14 season will go down in history as the ‘perfect season’ for Gintaras.  The ‘Pride Of Lithuania’ completed an undefeated season by holding off a resilient Wandsworth Wolves team in the CBL U14 Playoff Championship Finals.

Alonas Peciulis once again proved to be the class of the division with a MVP performance of 22 points that was simply too much for the Wolves to contain. Peciulis has had an outstanding season in the CBL and established himself as the top player in the U14 division and undoubtedly a player to watch moving forward.  His combination of timely drives, pull up jump shots and overall determination to win, characterised the Gintaras performance and powered the East London outfit to the the title.

Despite coming into the game as strong favourites, Gintaras didn’t have it all their own way, as the Wandsworth Wolves came ready to play.  Down 13 going into the 3rd quarter, the Wolves went on a 6-0 run behind Carl Tigar and Fozey Abdalla.  Abdalla also made sure his impact was felt on the glass, rebounding on both ends to give the Wolves a real opportunity to sneak back in and steal the game from Gintaras.  An Abdalla put back brought the game to within just 3 points at 26-29, but then Peciulis took matters into his own hands reeling off 8 of Gintaras last 10 points to put the game to bed and establish himself as a well-deserved champion and game MVP.
