Brent Ballers slipped away with a win of one point (31-30) against William Morris on Sunday 6th December at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.

Brent Ballers had a strong game throughout with Russel de Roeper securing 8 out of his team’s 10 points to lead 10-4 by the end of the first quarter.

This was followed by a great team effort from Brent’s Matthew-David Tate, Roeper and Fransico Cocco who all scored 2 points each to take it to 16-10 going into the half.

However, it could be said that the second half saw Brent become complacent with their edge and so silly mistakes and turnovers soon allowed William Morris to level out the score in the final minutes of the game.

Although new to the league, William Morris prove to be tough competition as their team chemistry is second to none. Despite not having a coach since the beginning of the season, the players have taken it upon themselves to coach one another which seems to be their strength on and off the court.

With everything to play for, William Morris hit a three but it wasn’t enough to stop Brent from closing out the game by one.

Brent’s Eddie Lartey said, “If anything, this game taught us the importance of staying focussed right until the end of the game as silly mistakes and missed lay ups can hurt us. Having said that, we’re happy we got the W and so we’ll work hard to do better next time.”

Both teams play in the The Community Basketball League (CBL) run by the London School of Basketball (LSB) in partnership with Reach and Teach. For more information, please contact
